I’m definitely not what you would call a “trendy” girl.
Since my mid 20’s, I’ve been trying to fill my closet with timeless staples – the kind of my outfits I can slip on quickly without taking a second look in the mirror. However, I do like to incorporate a few new on-trend pieces into my wardrobe each season to add some texture to my classic ensembles.
It definitely pushes me out of my comfort zone, but that’s half the fun of playing with your style 😉
Here are my favorite five trends this fall/winter that I can get behind:
While the embroidery trend has been around since summer, I’m relieved to see it transfer nicely into fall. If you can’t tell, I’m a fan of anything feminine, and I would happily don a jacket (especially denim), sweater or shoes embracing this trend.
While I may not like to rock bright colors head-to-toe (although my stylish friend Caroline is a pro at it!), I’m perfectly comfortable in a colorful coat or bright skirt to brighten up my normal outfits.
To be completely honest, I’ve never embraced metallics as a trend, but there’s something about this year (and the season) that makes me want to take another stab at them. ‘Tis the season to sparkle.
Nothing says luxury like faux fur. Warm, function and a chic additive to any outfit.
As a Annie Hall/Diane Keaton fan, I can get behind this trend 100%. Not to mention that all of those French style interviews mention taking masculine pieces – such as an over-sized blazer or a boyfriend’s button-up shirt – and making them feminine. Consider this your key to that je ne sais quoi look.
White On White
Nothing is chicer than a solid outfit – especially in neutral colors. I love seeing white and creme-colored ensembles paired with a spirited accessory like a leopard print clutch or colorful tassel earrings.
What trends are you looking forward to rocking this fall/winter?
Oh, fall. Sweaters and coats. Reruns of Hocus Pocus. Pumpkin-spiced everything. And then one of my favorite holidays of the year (and not just because it falls around my favorite SEC football game of the year – Florida vs. Georgia in Jacksonville, FLA.).
However, Halloween has steadily changed as I’ve grown older. The practically of buying an entire outfit for just one night of fun is losing steam.
As I’ll be spending this Halloween away from the states, I can only think to done an ensemble that can be easily be transferable from day to night. Plus, add to considerable chic points to my wardrobe while I’m in Amsterdam this weekend.
