Between planning for upcoming photo shoots and end-of-summer weekend getaways, Fashion Week snuck up on me this year. For the first time ever, it was my name on the invitations – I was no longer the intern going in place of a boss or the girl working the show backstage. I even was able to see Betsey Johnson’s signature cartwheel from my very own seat!
Not only that, but I was fortunate enough to meet a variety of people – from Joe Zee and Olivia Palermo (style crush) to my favorite reality star’s daughter (I not-so-secretly adore Lisa Vanderpump’s British sayings from the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills), Pandora. In fact, Pandora was sweet enough to let me play fan girl and take a picture with her while we sat next to each other at Desigual. Not too unpredictably, the lighting was not on our side, so later on backstage when Pandora asked me how they turned out, she was nice enough to oblige me another photo moment. Again, it’s so lovely meeting genuinely kind individuals unexpectedly.
Speaking of incredibly wonderful people, I have to give a big shout out to my friends Xavier Gonzalez and Nana Meriwether. Both made this Fashion Week one for the books, from Nana being my partner-in-crime for shows and after parties to Xavier for giving both Nana and me a full-fledged tour of the Vogue offices.
I’ll certainly get some much-needed rest after tonight, but I’ll miss the excitement this time of the year brings to New York City.
Till next season, FW!
