Fun fact: New York women aren’t known for wearing pastels.
In the time that I’ve lived in Manhattan, my collection of vibrant sundresses has been pushed farther and farther into the back of my closet to make way for an overly black, ‘NYC’ wardrobe.
You can imagine my surprise when I was surrounded last night by a number of women dressed head-to-toe in Palm-beach style clothing eagerly waiting to enter the #LillyForTarget private shopping event inside the beautiful Bryant Park Grill.
And why should they not? After a winter like ours, the colorful 250-piece collection is downright adorable from the barware and accessories to the garden party-appropriate sheath dresses. Let’s also not forget Target prices – most items cost less than $30 apiece.
In a sea of color, I spent the evening taking in the whole scene: girls scouring to find their size on the racks, celebrities dressed in garden-party appropriate dresses (Kate Bosworth, Emmy Rossum, Ellie Kemper aka Kimmy Schmidt) chatting enthusiastically to fans, bubbly drinks and sweet treats being passed around (I could not pass up the key lime pie macarons) and the overall feeling that summer was just around the corner…
I ended up buying the upstream print shift dress and have no regrets with a $38 and fantastic look/fit along with the gold-plated wine corks (I couldn’t help myself – elephants are my weakness).
Items from the collection sold out quickly at the event (I was constantly in search of smalls/mediums), so make sure you have a Target account set up so that you can check out quickly this weekend.
Any Lilly or Target lovers out there? Let me know what you have your eye on!
