“There’s only one very good life
and that’s the life you know you want and you make it yourself.”
– Diana Vreeland
I want to start off by saying that I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving back in the United States and abroad. My “Friendsgiving” turned out to be a hit; excellent food (think a French twist on your traditional meal) and even more wonderful company, despite missing my loved ones at home.
Nonetheless, I did feel incredibly lucky as I sat around the table last Thursday.
The past week had been filled with a number of Parisian delights – from a savory trip to Angelina for their famously rich hot chocolate, walks around the Jardin des Tuileries, dining with the spirits of F. Scott Fitzgerald and Hemingway at Café de Flore, visiting the Musée d’Orsay, Versailles… I’ve accomplished a sensational amount on my bucket list lately. And now, with the holidays approaching, I’m ready to make more happen. And I think my latest decisions would make Diana Vreeland would be proud.
After some research, I finally purchased my first Eurail pass for the couple weeks I’m off this winter. The countries? Switzerland, Austria, Hungary, Czech Republic and Germany.
What’s even better? Not only will my younger brother be flying over to join me on this once-in-a-lifetime experience, but a few marvelous friends will also be partaking in some of the travel activities i.e. Christmas (Vienna!) and New Year’s Eve (Prague!).
Even just writing this I’m getting much too excited to sleep (that and I’ve have more exciting plans for tomorrow thanks to Blouin Travel). There’s still so much to do in terms of picking hostels, things to see, etc. so thank the Lord I am planning on working on it more this weekend. If you have any advice, I am all ears.
What are you planning to do over the holidays?
And please feel free to share any places you think I should go visit in the countries I’m traveling to this holiday season!
