“Whatever it is that you think you want to do — and whatever it is that you think stands between you and that — stop making excuses. You can do anything.” – Katia Beauchamp of Birchbox (via her interview on NYTimes.com)
After getting my life together after two straight weekend trips (I wish I could explain how much I miss Amsterdam – and especially Prague – already!) I’m finally ready to get back to reality before the holidays set in. In my book, that means getting enough water, sleep and actually going for a run despite the numbingly cold temperatures we’ve been experiencing in Paris lately. It’s incredibly tempting to just stay in and keep warm, but that’s not what this move was about. As much as I needed sleep after celebrating my roommate’s birthday this past week, I dragged myself out from under the covers and headed on a serene, breezy five mile run. And you know what? I loved it.
(I might’ve even seen a photo shoot occurring right on the Seine so keep your eyes peeled for any upcoming Parisian fashion editorials).
Paris has this little trick down in the winter: it’s dark and dreary until around 2-3 p.m. then all of a sudden the light completely changes and then you’re bathed in bits of sunshine. It takes a bit to get use to, but once you’re outside, you’re usually* rewarded with some sunshine. It was so nice that I even ventured out to the Marché de Noël des Champs-Élysées (this incredibly charming Christmas market with vendors serving anything from traditional French treats to handmade ornaments) and rode the Ferris Wheel just in time for a eye-catching view of the city.
Later on, it might’ve taken me about an hour to defrost from evening’s events, but oh, was it worth it.
Je t’aime, Paris.
