After a long-overdue visit to the Puces de Clignancourt Flea Market in Paris this weekend, I couldn’t help but be inspired by the objects that were once held so much promise to their previous owners. Antique trinkets from WWII, grasshopper green velvet chairs and dog-earred copies of Vogue – even a polka dot Céline blazer… all seem to possess there own stories from years of wear with their previous companions. I saw a film, a novel, an outfit. Nearly every piece was begging for its story to be told, as well as a new adventure.
(Including this darling old-fashioned type writer, which I would’ve revamped and idolized if I had enough Euros on me).
It’s true that inspiration can strike you from anywhere, but if you want it done quickly, head to your nearest flea market for a glimpse at the treasures of the past.
Have you ever visited the flea markets around you? What did you find that inspired you?
