Today marked the last day of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week s/s 2013 and while countless designers, editors, interns and public relations professionals are giving large sighs of relief right about now, I’m already missing the most exciting week of the season.
I was fortunate enough to be right in the middle of fashion week, helping out with Joy Cioci‘s show (side note: she’s from my hometown!) for a couple of days right up to her debut of her spring/summer 2013 collection at the tents.
Not only was it an incredible learning experience, but I loved seeing another side of the fashion industry while working with a wonderful set of people.
In addition to running errands for the showroom, sewing part of an actual piece for the show, being behind the scenes at the tents at Lincoln Center and dressing the models, I got to see a few of my favorite fashion celebrities – Kate Davidson Hudson (ELLE‘s accessories director), Nina Garcia (fashion director of Marie Claire and Project Runway Judge) and Glenda Bailey (editor-in-chief of Harper’s Bazaar) we’re literally less than 5-feet away from me. To say I was starstruck but the whole experience would be an understatement.
All in all, the show was beautiful and despite my exhaustion from the past 72 hours, it was an incredible few days in the city.
Let’s just say, I can’t wait till next time!
