I’ve never been one for big birthday celebrations – minus my 21st – but this year was another exception. Nevertheless, I was truly touched by the number of friends (old and new) who want to celebrate such a “normal” numbered year. I still feel like I’m celebrating my birthday (technically it was on June 25th, but I won’t tell if you don’t) with a number of weekends lately that we’re titled pre-birthday and post-birthday. I’m even “celebrating” with this mini getaway to Charleston!
No matter the scale of effort, I deeply appreciate all my friends, family and just well-wishing strangers (you would be surprised what you can get away with on your birthday) who have made/are making this a memorable time for me – it’s been a crazy year so far, so I am nothing but grateful. I especially want to thank my darling roommates for putting up with all of these shenanigans. My best friend, Kiersten, also deserves a reward – not only did she invite me out to her cousin’s gorgeous beach house in Sea Girt Jersey (driving through that area, it’s clear where the Garden State got its name), but she and our friend, Jackie, came to the city just to celebrate.
Plus, nothing really starts off your official birthday than your roommate bursting into your room at midnight to wish you happy birthday (to which I screamed bloody murder, but it was hysterical, to say the least). I have a feeling 24 is going to be another incredible year.
